I’ve known for a long time that I, personally, like classical music. My favorite composer is Bach. But how do other cats “feel” when exposed to classical music? A study at Colorado State University is looking at that question with regard to reducing the stress levels for cats during vet visits. Ingrid King, author of “Buckley’s Story: Lessons from a Feline Master Teacher,” recently wrote an article about that study and what its findings could mean to your feline friends. You can read Ingrid’s article on her blog, The Conscious Cat.
Oh, and by the way, that is a photo of yours truly being used to illustrate the article. :-).
Can classical music lead to better veterinary care for cats?

I keep telling my human to put on some Mahler instead of all that alternative hard rock that she likes so much!
Yesterday I adopted a 7yr. old Black & amber tabby. Her name is Chloe, her family divorced so she had been living at the veterinary near my home for 6 months. Within a few hours of being in my home she was on the piano. Keys were covered but I plan to have them open to see if she will play. ruth
whenever i turn on mozart (i am a student of classical guitar) my 4 month old kitten will typically (about 90% of the time) jump right up to my lap and stare at the speakers. His ears go all over the place when this happens so I assume that he really enjoys it. My friend whom i got the kitten off of reports similar things in his house with HIS cats. I would assume that they are interested in the sounds and judging by the way cats process the environment they probably can enjoy it. On the other hand, it could just be these guys, i dont know, i still have yet to meet an animal that enjoys todays noise xD
Thanks for keeping your fans updated, Nora. When I check my e-mails, I’m always so glad to learn the latest news. Seeing your cute pictures and reading your witty commentary always make me smile!
Whenever I play Noocturne op.9 no.2 on the piano, my cat always jumps on my lap and just naps there while i play. It happens everytime. I think he really enjoys the sound of the keys and such.
MY CAT NATHAN IS ABSOLUTELY BONKERS OVER JACKIE EVANCHO. HIS FAORITE PIECES ARE MI MANCHERAI AND OMBRA MI FU. MY SOUND SYSTEM IS IN MY BEDROOM AND WHENEVER I PLAY JACKIE HE RUNS IN JUMPS ON THE BED LAYS ON HIS SIDE EYES CLOSED. THANK GOD WERE BOTH JACKIE JUNKIES
