Acro-Cats Come To Philly…

Yep. The Acro-Cats and the Rock Cats band arrived in my home town, Philadelphia, this weekend for a series of performances at the Painted Bride Art Center in Old City, Philadelphia. My human purrsonal assistants, Burnell and Betsy, came home from brunch this morning with the great news. Turns out, Burnell was eating next to the window facing South Street and saw a car pull up across the street with a giant white cat on the top. Not something you see every day, right?

Paulie with the Acro-Cats car.So he naturally ran out to say hello. That’s Paulie above waving her paw and looking fantastic in her cat ears. Anyway, sounds like a fun show to check out. You can get more information on the whole troupe and information on tickets and show times at circuscats.com

New How-To Book from Quirk Books…

NoraWithHowToQuirkBook

Being an internet celebrity is not all about the bright lights, cameras rolling, and millions of fans screaming for more. Sometimes I just want to curl up with a good book with plenty of pictures and words to inspire and educate. And boy could I have used this new book from Quirk Books back in 2007 when I began my own rise to internet fame. Well, actually, it’s my purrsonal assistants who could have used it. The book is titled How To Make Your Cat An Internet Celebrity by Patricia Carlin, with photographs (lots of them) by Dustin Fenstermacher (obviously not his real name). It certainly would have made my road a bit less bumpy. (Click image to view larger version of moi with my very own copy.)

C’est la vie! It’s here now, and if you are purrsonal assistant to a feline celebrity hopeful, you should definitely check this book out. Be warned, I am not in it (an accidental oversight by the author, I’m sure), but the information, photos, and humor contained within its 127 pages will delight most anyone – except maybe Grumpy Cat.

Love,
Nora

Muffin Responds to My Video on YouTube…

Nora And MuffinThe scene above has been repeated a number of times, according to my fans. Really. It usually goes down like this: a human brings up one of my YouTube videos on their computer, and another cat (obviously one with great musical taste and an appreciation of real feline talent) enters the room, jumps up on the desk or bed, etc. and proceeds to interact with the image of yours truly on the screen. This interaction can take several forms: 1) Pawing at the screen. 2) Meowing. 3) Sitting quietly and staring with rapt attention at the amazing performance unfolding in front of them. The cat pictured above is named Muffin, and her human, Nathalie Cone, took this photo of Muffin expressing her admiration for the diva. That’s me.

Anyway, I want to thank Nathalie and Muffin for permission to post this wonderful photo. And I’d also like to invite all of my human fans to send me photos or videos of their feline companions showing them appreciating my videos. Please include your names, as well. By sending me the photos or short video clips (links to clip on YouTube preferred, if available), you are agreeing to allow me to post the images or links on my blog/website.

Burnell Got A New Cat Toy…

Made with Blog Collage by Fundy Software.Well, not a cat toy exactly. More like a man toy. I love a feather on a string. Burnell loves software. Go figure! So, he recently bought something called “Blog Collage,” which is used (so I’m told) to quickly create groupings (collages) of photos for, you guessed it, blogs. The one above is his first one, and of course he chose me as the subject. And why not? Do the words personal assistant mean anything to you? Everything Burnell has or will have he owes equally to my good graces and, I admit, to his stellar performance as a PA. I hope you like the collage. I have the feeling you’ll be seeing more of them.

The Nora Magazine: Promise of the Future?

The Nora MagazineWhat you see above is strictly a parody of an Oprah magazine cover. Burnell created it to amuse himself. He loves to do that. But it got me to thinking: gee, if it’s good enough for Oprah, then why not? I mean, I’ve got plenty to say, and I am an internationally known media star, not unlike Oprah. And let’s face it, there are just so many things to write about that interest cats and the people that love them. So, who knows? Perhaps the world is ready for a cat-centric magazine written by and for cats with the world’s greatest feline diva at the helm. Hmmm?

Guest Blogger – Burnell Yow!

Burnell Yow!Hi. My name is Burnell and I share the honor with my wife, Betsy, of being a personal assistant to Nora The Piano Cat. In addition to being Nora’s chief videographer and photographer, I also maintain her website/blog, her store, and her Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as provide materials to members of the press and, on occasion, allow myself to be interviewed. Oh, and I am also in charge of feeding not only Nora, but Max, Gabby, Rennie, Clara, Ellie and Jenny. Which leads me to the last and least glamorous of my many tasks in the service of the Diva – changing and scooping the litter.

Cat Attract LitterI’ve tried a number of different brands of litter over the years and they all work to one degree or another. Some, however, just don’t quite live up to their claims – especially the claim of being 99% dust free, which is very important to me since I have seven and sometimes eight litter boxes to scoop (four of them being in the computer room). I used to have to use eyedrops after scooping, and a fine layer of gray dust would end up on everything. But not anymore. Several months ago I discovered Dr. Elseys’s Cat Attract litter. And I must say it is amazing.  The odor is way down and it is truly 99% dust free. We had also had an issue with one of the cats (certainly not Nora) peeing outside the box. Well, not any more. I am overjoyed! Cat Attract is more expensive than most of the litters I have tried, but it is well worth every penny.

When Nora asked me to write a guest post on her blog, I doubt that she meant for me to write about her litter. I mean there is so much about her that is amazing and worthy of comment and if she asks me back, I will no doubt get into those other areas. But let’s face it, we all poop (yes, even the Diva) and a good litter can make a good day a great day – especially for the one all hunched over with a scoop in his hand.

Regards,
Burnell

Historical? Me?

Historical Society of PennsylvaniaJust discovered that my two books, “My Story: A Picture Book” and “Nora The Piano Cat’s Guide to Becoming A Good Musician: Or How to Get Good at Anything Hard” have been archived at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. They’ve also cataloged my first three videos. That means that 100 years from now when your great great grandchildren are doing research on the most famous cat in Philadelphia, there will be research materials available.

And I’m only seven years old!

Now Appearing On Your Firefox Browser…

Whoa! I can’t believe it. Burnell has my eyes staring back at him from the top of his Firefox browser window. How’d he do that? It’s something called Personas. They are easy-to-install, easy-to-use themes that change the look of your Firefox web browser. There are thousands of Personas to choose from, and you can create and submit custom ones. Turns out that’s what Burnell did.

So, if you use the Firefox browser and would like to enhance your browsing experience, hop on over to http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/persona/115659 and get started.
